Air pollution causes 1000 premature deaths in Toronto annually, according to the Ontario Medical Association.

The Federal and Ontario governments collect over $4 billion in fuel taxes each year, and yet provide ZERO funding for the operation of the TTC.

That's right. Not one measly dime.

  • The link between car use and smog is clear
  • The link between public transit and smog reduction is clear
  • What's not at all clear is what our governments (at every level) are doing to protect our health and environment.

We need real solutions to our poisonous air quality, not inane suggestions like "don't use your barbecue."

We need lower fares and better public transit now.

Humanize Toronto is calling upon the City of Toronto to make the TTC free every time a Smog Day is officially declared. The Province and Feds then get the bill, because they DO have the money to pay for it.
